The Viking VK-10 is a microprocessor-controlled motion detector. It really couldn't be simpler to use, as it requires no tuning. This process is performed automatically for you by the circuit. To operate all that is required is to turn the sensitivity control up to the desired level. Full sensitivity will give the best detection depth, though on 'difficult' sites it may be necessary to reduce the level to avoid false signals. The discrimination control can be used so you only detect those targets you want to dig. The computer-controlled circuit ensures reliable operation and provides a clear audio warning of required targets. The battery level is also monitored with an audio indication given on switch-on. The VK-10 is a classic well-proven Viking detector, and the new model profits from a new housing and improved display interface.

The Viking VK-20 is a microprocessor-controlled motion detector, featuring an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) which displays (amongst other things) a Target ID. This complements the discrimination control by displaying an indication of the targets identity on the screen. For detecting on wet sand select 'Beach Mode' to prevent false signals right up to the waters edge.The VK20 also monitors the state of your battery, both by an audio warning on switch-on, and continually as you detect by means of the display. The VK-20 is a classic well-proven Viking detector, and the new model profits from a new housing and improved display interface.

The VK30 completes our range of Microprocessor Controlled detectors. Providing all the features of the VK10 & VK20 this detector goes one step further. This is basically two detectors in one. Firstly it is a Motion detector, providing Target ID, computer-controlled discrimination and beach mode. Secondly it is a Non-Motion detector featuring factory preset tuning and a retune pushbutton. Searching in Non-Motion mode allows accurate pinpointing of targets without the need to keep the search head moving. In Non-Motion mode doesn't, however, provide discrimination, though the display still provides target ID information. This detector is particularly suited to the serious detectorist, though there is no reason why the beginner who requires maximum performance can not quickly master all of the features. Unlike many other detectors to offer so many features, the VK30 requires no setting up and has no confusing programs. The VK-30 is a classic well-proven Viking detector, and the new model profits from a new housing and improved display interface.

The VK-40 is Viking's newest and most advanced metal detector ever produced (which is quite a feat, considering they have been making excellent metal detectors in the UK since the "early days" of the 1970s). The VK40 has all the features of the classic VK30, with a some very useful extra features: While the VK-30 boasts 2 modes of operation (Motion, non-Motion), the VK-40 has a 3rd mode, called "All Metal Motion". This extra mode provides all the advantages of a motion detector (deeper ground penetration, better discrimination), with the useability of a non-Motion detector (variable analogue audio signal, all targets detected). The net effect is simplicity of operation - the audio tone itself gives a better indication of the target and, while every metal target yields a signal, you are provided with a visual indicator of the type of metal from which it is made. In addition, the new "polo"-shaped head is both lighter and more efficient, thereby achieving greater depth of detection. This is a great detector, which is at least as advanced as very many much more expensive models - and that is probably why Viking metal detectors continue to be widely seen in almost all the country's metal detector clubs.
